Subaru's U.S. sales top 9 millionby Drew Johnson
Subaru has now sold more than 9 million vehicles in the U.S.
Subaru reached a major milestone on Monday, delivering its 9-millionth vehicle in the United States. Subaru first began sales on these shores in 1968.
Subaru's 9-millionth vehicle sold in the U.S. was a 2018 50th Anniversary Edition Crosstrek, delivered to Dr. Hershey Garner in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Garner is a repeat Subaru buyer and currently owns a 2005 Baja.
"I've been waiting for the right Subaru to come along,” said Garner, "and found the perfect one on Adventure Subaru's website, the 50th Anniversary Edition Crosstrek. It has all the features I was looking for, and the color and size are the perfect fit.”
In order to mark the occasion, a charitable donation was made on Garner's behalf to Feed Communities, an organization that "works with individuals, organizations, schools, universities, government agencies and foundations to create sustainable partnerships for increasing access to healthy foods and improving healthy food choices within the local community.” Garner's wife has served on the board of Feed Communities and the organization is also a partner of Subaru's Share the Love initiative.
Crosstrek sales have been booming lately, with sales up 88.2 percent in March to over 13,000 units.
