Tesla Model 3 firmware bumps max range to 325 miles; top speed now 162 mph

The company promises across-the-board power improvement for the whole Model 3 lineup.

Buried in Tesla's announcement of the $35,000 Model 3's availability, the company detailed a list of significant improvements that will roll out for existing customers via over-the-air updates.

The rear-wheel-drive Model 3 Long Range will soon have an estimated 325 miles of range, up from 310 miles that will remain the cap for the dual-motor AWD edition.

The company has also increased the peak power for all Model 3 vehicles, adding an average of five percent more oomph and increasing the flagship Model 3 Performance top speed to 162 mph.

Tesla has not yet announced a specific timeframe for releasing the updates to existing owners.
