Tesla working on better batteries with 400-mile range

The Model S is currently the longest-range Tesla with a 370-mile rating.

Tesla has confirmed plans to roll out revised vehicles that are expected to surpass 400 miles of range.

During Tesla's annual shareholder meeting, CEO Elon Musk boasted of the company's lead in both range and efficiency. Forthcoming updates will further improve both metrics.

"It will not be long before we have a 400-mile range car," he said.

The company is already very close to the target, with the Model S Long Range topping out at 370 miles.
