Toyota introduces S-FR Racing Concept

The S-FR Racing Concept is an update of the well-received S-FR concept.

Toyota has introduced a sportier version of the well-received S-FR concept. The design study will be presented to the public next month at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Appropriately called S-FR Racing Concept, the coupe retains the original show car's basic shape but it gains downforce-enhancing add-ons such as a deep front bumper with fins and a splitter crafted out of carbon fiber, vents in the hood, an oversized wing on the back and a massive air diffuser. Center-locking eight-spoke alloy wheels add a finishing touch to the track-inspired look.

Toyota hasn't published technical specifications, so what lies under the hood is up in the air. All that's certain at this point is that the S-FR Racing Concept is equipped with bigger brakes on all four corners and a sport-tuned suspension. Similarly, interior pictures haven't been released yet and the cabin is completely hidden by blacked-out windows.

While the S-FR Racing isn't likely to make the transition from a concept to a production, rumors indicate the regular S-FR that was presented at the Tokyo Motor Show last October will be added to the Toyota lineup as a regular-production model positioned below the GT86. In the United States, the coupe will likely be branded as a Scion.
