Detroit LIVE: 2020 Volkswagen Passat
The refresh features a slightly bolder design with a sloped roofline and new grille.
Volkswagen has revealed the US-market 2020 Passat at the North American International Auto Show.
Despite riding on the same platform as the outgoing Passat, the refreshed sedan has received a few sheet-metal adjustments including a sloping coupe-like roofline and a 'tornado' line.
Up front, a new grille adds to the slightly bolder design. LED headlights and taillights come standard, while Passat badging now stretches across the trunk lid.
The company has upgraded the cockpit with a more modern instrument panel and a glass-covered infotainment screen. Designers also expanded the range of interior design options, adding more colors and V-Tex leatherette or Nappa leather seating in certain configurations.
The Passat's 2.0-liter TSI engine carries over with 174 horsepower but with slightly more twist, jumping from 184 to 207 pound-feet of torque.
The 2020 edition is expected to arrive at US dealers sometime this summer.
