McLaren has officially started regular production of P1 supercar. McLaren has built a few examples of the P1 over the last few weeks for testing purposes, but the units now rolling down the assembly line are destined for real world customers.
Like its MP4-12C counterpart, the P1 is being built at McLaren’s state-of-the-art production facility in Surrey, England. McLaren plans to hand-build just 375 examples of the P1 at the Surrey facility.
The P1 promises to be a worthy successor to the iconic McLaren F1, thanks to a hybrid drivetrain that develops 903 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque. McLaren estimates that the P1 will be able to accelerate from 0-60 in just 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 200mph.
Each P1 will carry a price tag of about $1.3 million, but McLaren isn’t expected to have any trouble finding a home for all 375 examples. Certified gear head and late night host Jay Leno has already plunked down cash to put a P1 into his collection.

Wow, $1.3 million! Can I pay in installments? 😂
How does the hybrid drivetrain affect the car’s performance compared to a traditional one?
Thanks for the update! Always excited to hear about new McLaren models. 🚗💨
Only 375 units? These will be collector’s items for sure!
Why is Jay Leno always the first to get these cars? 🤔
Looks like the P1 is going to be a true beast with 903 horsepower!
Is the P1 being built on the same line as the MP4-12C?
Can’t wait to see one of these on the road. Any chance of a test drive? 😅
The price is a bit steep. Is it really worth it?
McLaren never ceases to amaze me with their engineering prowess!
