Chevrolet’s next-generation Cruze compact has been fully revealed on the set of a photo shoot in Southern California. The new Cruze is expected to be marketed a 2016 model.
Borrowing cues from the new Volt, Malibu and Impala, the 2016 Cruze promises to be much more stylish than the model currently sitting in dealer showrooms. Up front the 2016 Cruze sports an updated version of Chevy’s split grille, chrome accents and new look headlights with LED accents. The Cruz’s hood also features new contours for a more athletic look.
Though not quite the full-blown four-door coupe treatment, the Cruze looks sporty in profile thanks to a rising beltline and sloping roof. Character lines on the front fenders, sills and rear haunches help give the Cruze the illusion of motion. The Cruze’s rear license plate area mimics the design of the car’s main front grille.
The 2016 Cruze is expected to be powered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A dual-clutch transmission is also expected to be offered. A diesel engine option should make a return appearance.
Following in the footsteps of Honda’s Civic model expansion, Chevy will likely offer the 2016 Cruze as a hatchback in the U.S. market for the first time. A wagon variant could also be in the cards.
Look for the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze to debut either later this year at the Los Angeles auto show or early in 2016 at the Detroit auto show.

Wow, the new Cruze looks sleek! Can’t wait to see it in person. 🚗
Does anyone know if the 2016 model will have all-wheel drive?
Looks like Chevy is finally stepping up their design game. About time!
Is it just me, or does the rear look a bit like a BMW wannabe? 🤔
Thank you for the update! Been waiting for news on the new Cruze. 🙌
How many colors will be available? I’m hoping for a bright red!
The dual-clutch transmission sounds promising. Hope it performs well.
Why does every new car these days have to look like a spaceship? Not a fan. 😒
I’m curious if the diesel engine will be more fuel-efficient than the previous models.
